Cincinnati’s Famous Sweet Pizza Sauce Recipe

Ingredients –

1 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 twenty-eight ounce can tomato puree
1 teaspoon dried onions, minced
½ teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried thyme
¼ teaspoon dried parsley
¼ teaspoon salt
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ tablespoon carrot, minced
1 tablespoon honey
1 ½ tablespoons dark brown sugar
ground black pepper to taste

Preparation:

Heat oil to medium in a large pot and add tomato puree carefully to avoid splattering.

Add all other ingredients and simmer on low heat, stirring regularly, for half an hour to one hour, until sauce reaches preferred consistency.

Allow to cool to room temperature, and then spread on pizza.

(Makes sauce for 6 to 8 pizzas)
