If you want to make a no-cook pizza sauce, you can blend all the ingredients together with a stick blender and leave the sauce for half an hour so the flavors blend. To make a no-cook pizza sauce, use onion powder instead of whole onion. If you are making the cooked version, let the sauce cool before using it, else the pizza top will cook faster that the base.
1 lb crushed tomatoes
1 tablespoon minced garlic
4 oz tomato paste
2 teaspoons sugar
1 tablespoon chopped, fresh basil
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon chopped onion
˝ teaspoon chili powder
2 teaspoons dried oregano
Salt and black pepper to taste
Sauté the onion and garlic in the olive oil for 5 minutes.
Add the other ingredients except the basil.
Simmer the sauce for 15 to 20 minutes.
Add the chopped basil 5 minutes before the sauce is ready.
